I was very pleased to take part in the Viktor Frankl podcast with Rabbi Daniel Schonbuch. Frankl was an Austrian psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, whose key insight was that the central motivational force for human beings is the search for meaning in their lives. Rabbi Schonbuch, who is also a psychologist, is a deep admirer of Frankl’s ideas which he links to Jewish religious teaching.
In this podcast, we discussed how Britain ignored warnings about Islamisation for decades and is still ignoring them; what binds western leftists to regressive Islamists; the rise of Zohran Mamdani in New York and, the moral corruption of progressive politics; the failure by Jewish community leaders to stand up for Israel because they too have drunk the progressive Kool-Aid; the destructive leftward and hyper-individualist turn taken by psychology; and today’s great cry for meaning, just as Frankl highlighted decades ago and which explains so much of the current epidemic distress and discombobulation among the young.
